Cinco De Drinko (written 05/05/08)

Today was yet another reason for people to get drunk, Cinco De Mayo. This day is generally mistaken as Mexican Independence Day, when in fact it is a day celebrating Mexico’s victory over the French in a war that was begun by the French as a way of making Mexico repay a debt they owed them. So in other words, today we celebrate the historic fact that Mexico was able to remain a bunch of deadbeats. Just kidding!!!!!! That is actually the true story behind Cinco De Mayo though, look it up!
Anyways, I got my hair cut this morning by one of my girls from work who also happens to work at a salon. I guess every other month, her salon has to do a review where they bring in a hair model and cut their hair. Not really a test, more like a refresher. She cut my hair two months ago when she needed a hair model, and I was pretty satisfied with the end product so I agreed to let her use me again. I guess it came out alright this time, not as good as the first time. I wish she had made both sides more even, but I can’t complain about a free cut that normally would’ve cost me $50 at her salon. I’ve been wanting to change my hair color again, but I guess I’ll wait a little while. I don’t know what I’m going to do next, maybe highlights again since summer is almost here.
I went to work after my haircut because I was convinced it would start getting busy once people got off work, since of course it was Cinco de Mayo. I was wrong. The place was absolutely dead, even if management had taken the time to decorate the place all fiesta style. We had strings of Corona lights, mini pinatas, even a blow up Corona palm tree…pretty chessy. So, I ended up leaving work early and meeting up with two of my girls from work at a bar down the street. I had one corona and tipped the guy playing guitar and taking requests when he sang his rendition of “Dancing with Myself”, by Billy Idol. We had to leave because one of my friends started feeling sick after taking a double shot of Patron tequila. (A reason I don’t drink Tequila.)
And that, in a nutshell, was my fantastico Cinco de Mayo. I think I am taking a day to clean the casa tomorrow. Good night!
